The Gap Years
In the Fall of 2008, I was laid off from my position as Vice President of Print Production at Crew Creative, a leading entertainment marketing agency. I took a few months to downsize my possesions before leaving on an extended sailing and diving sabbatical in March 2009 that is documented on my CaptainStu.com page. Upon returning to the Marina in 2011, I entered the MBA program at Loyola Marymount University and in my free time, worked on several music projects.

Why these paintings?
Almost all of my travel in the 2010s was based around sailing, diving and going to beaches. I was a divemaster in Utila, Hondura and earned my PADI scuba instructor certification and after spending a summer working as mate aboard the Topsail Ketch, Hawaiian Chieftain, I spent the Fall-Winter-Spring season in St. Thomas, USVI working as a Dive Boat Captain and Scuba Instructor. I love the Beach.
